Little Gems Part I

Hopefully we can capture the occasional cute saying here so that we don’t forget them.
Beware of Prayers
Elliot often adds a gentle little prayer when we say grace before a meal. Usually it has been something like “Thankyou God for our beautiful baby”. He is obviously picking up on things he hears.
I choked recently when the prayer was “Thankyou God for shops never running out of Papa’s favourite beer”.
Do you dream?
Papa: Elliot, do you ever have dreams when you are sleeping ?
Elliot: no, just yawns.
Where money comes from
Elliot: “Papa don’t worry about if you run out of money, just go to the shops and buy something and they always give you money back”.
Time to Get Up
Elliot now has a clock radio in his room. Up until now he had to wait until we came into his room to get him up before he reads his books. This has worked really well, mostly.
We explained that when the clock says 7:XX something, he is allowed to get up.
Last evening he came out of bed, 10 minutes after being put down, saying that “Hey Papa, I’m allowed to get up because it says it is 7 o’clock”.
Indeed it was 7, but sadly, 7PM. Excellent work Elliot, but we mean in the morning

A bit of Blarney

Elliot joined us today for a trip to Blarney Castle. It was quite a scary climb for a little tacker. The staircase is very narrow and slippery. We felt a bit paranoid that he might slip and disappear somewhere, but we managed to keep hold of him.
Blarney Castle is just 20 minutes from Cork. We have the next couple of months here in Ireland so we are hoping to explore a bit more over the coming weekends.

Elliot had his 4th birthday party at Castledare Miniature Railway in Wilson. We chose a Sunday where the steam engines run. It was great to smell the coal, hear the puff of the engines and even real whistles. Lots of dedicated train hobbyists keep the whole network working like clockwork.
Castledare has been there since the 1960s. The 3km of track winds around bush and wetlands
As you can see below it was smiles all round, everyone loves trains !

Did the bus+train trip to Green’s Cafe again today on Easter Monday. Apparently they sustained terrible water damage in the recent storms, but they already have a new ceiling, new lights and new couches. The cakes are just as good as ever.
Very hard to make it home and not drop in to Kailis Leederville also.
I hope Elliot has good memories of these events when he is older. We sure are lucky to have a bus route outside our house and live so close the city.
